His Love meets High Tide
A friend and pediatrician to our grandchildren was diagnosed with an aggressive form of cancer, and I wanted to send her a card which indicated we are praying for her, and let her know God has this under control. Her cancer is already at stage 3, so she will need a lot of prayers, and support.
I want her to know we will be bathing her in prayers, and support during this journey. Since she is a doctor she already knows the battle she must wage to win this war, and we know she can do it.
I started this project with a 4-1/4″ X 5-1/2″ piece of Whisper White Cardstock. I used a Post-it-Note Pad piece of paper to ensure I had a clear horizon line before any sponging started. I also used the smallest circle from the Layering Circles Die to cut out a sun, again using a Post-it-Note Pad piece of paper. I used my favorite way to sponge using my “secret ingredient”, glycerine! I have a video on how to use it, you can find it HERE.
I started with some So Saffron Classic Ink, my Sponge Dauber, and glycerine. I very lightly added the color to the upper portion of my piece. I added the circle cut sun at the top right side of my card after I sponged some So Saffron ink because I didn’t want it to be stark white. I layered some Crushed Curry Ink over the So Saffron, then some Rococco Rose Ink over the Crushed Curry. The last color I added to my skyline was some Highland Heather Classic Ink. I stamped the birds from the High Tide Stamp Set with some Tuxedo Black Memento Ink.
I flipped the piece of Post-it-Note Pad piece of paper and covered my skyline, then began working on my ocean. I stamped the water lines from the High Tide Stamp Set with Misty Moonlight Classic Ink, then using my Sponge Dauber, sponged in some water. I also used some Whisper White Craft Ink with the same water stamp (I cleaned it first using my Shammie) and went over various areas of the water to give it a look like a small splash of waves. It’s really prettier and more visible in person. I inked up the sentiment from the Positive Thoughts Stamp Set with some Tuxedo Black Memento Ink and stamped it just slightly under the sun.
Finally, I stamped the praying hands from the His Love Stamp Set on a piece of 3-1/2″ X 3-1/2″ piece of Whisper White Card using some Tuxedo Black Memento Ink. I cut the hands with the stitched circle using the Stitched Shapes Framelits (second to the largest circle in the die set). I used my Ivory, Light Smoky Slate, and Misty Moonlight Stampin’ Blends to color the image in. I added some Stampin’ Dimensionals to the back of my circle and adhered it to the front. The final step was to add my panel to the 81/2″ X 5-1/2″, scored at 4-1/4″ piece of Thick Whisper White Cardstock base, and some Clear Wink of Stella to the water, to give it a glistening look.
