Lovely As A Tree

The Lovely As A Tree Stamp Set has been around "forever" in the Stampin' Up Catalog, and rightfully so.  It's the perfect stamp set for just about "any" card you want to make, and you can use any sentiment with it as well.

In addition, we have the fabulous Glossy Cardstock back, and I am having a ton of fun creating a varied bunch of backgrounds.  I am working on a tutorial, and will show you how I created these fun cards, but I didn't want to wait to share with you some of my creations.

Lovely As A Tree 2

I just loved how this tree here looks like those are various shades of leaves on it, and some grass on the ground.  The tree trunk looks cool too, right?

Lovely As A Tree 3

I had a small piece of the Glossy Cardstock left over and decided to add it to the inside of my card to tie it all together.  So much fun!

Lovely As A Tree 5

We have some fabulous new Wood Textures Designer Series Paper, "however" here, I did not use it!  I used the Hardwood Stamp Set, which lucky for all of us carried over in the catalog (yay!), and some Sahara Sand Classic Ink.  So you can make your own wood textured cardstock with this cool stamp set.  Also, remember we have the Pinewood Plank Dynamic Embossing Folder as well.  So many fun products to use, combine and play with, what's not to love.

Here are the details for this card:

Early Expresso Cardstock – 8-1/2" X 5-1/2", scored at 4-1/4", 3-1/4" X 3-1/4" for the large scalloped circle

Old Olive Cardstock – 5-1/8" X 4-3/8"

Whisper White Cardstock – 5" X 4-1/8", layer panel, 3" X 3" for the Stitched White Circle Framelit

Glossy Cardstock – 2-1/4" X 2-1/4" – Stamped Image

Cut and score your Early Expresso Card Base, set aside for now.  Using the Hardwood Stamp Set ink it up with Sahara Sand Classic Ink, using a scratch piece of paper, place over the stamped image and light tap with your fingertips, remove the paper, and add the Whisper White cardstock layer panel and gently rub over the image.  I used an open pair of my Paper Snips, and distressed the edges.

Add the Whisper White layer stamped panel to the Old Oliver with Fase Fuse (or your favorite adhesive).  Using an approximately 5" piece of 5/8" Burlap Ribbon, wrap around both panels and I use regular old Scotch Tape to adhere here in the back.  Now add the entire panel to the Early Expresso Cardbase.  Using a couple of strands from the same Burlap Ribbon, tie a know around the front of the card, toward the left as shown in the pictures above.

Using the 3" X3" Whisper White Cardstock, run it through the bigshot with the Stitched Layer Framelits, then run the 3-1/4" X 3-1/4" piece of Early Expresso Cardstock, and run the largest Scallop from the Layering Circles Framelits.  Stamp the sentiment of your choice to the White circle, I used the Sympathy Sentiment from the Teeny Tiny Wishes Stamp Set (another staple, with TONS of sentiments) using the Early Expresso Classic Ink Pad.  Adhere them together with some Fast Fuse.  Add dimensionals to the back of the Early Expresso piece and add it to the card base.  I didn't add any dimensionals to the area of the circle that meets the ribbon.

Now using my Sharp Paper Snips, I cut around the tree, add a few dimensionals to it, and adhered it to my circle on front of the card, above the sentiment.

Your Done, easy peasy, right?

Well, that's it for today.  Thank you for visiting with me today, and hope you will be back to see some more fun cards, cool backgrounds I've created, and video on "How I did it"!

  1. WOW! How extremely creative and beautiful! A very dear friend from Middle School (Jr. High School) passed away a few weeks ago and her memorial service is this coming Friday, so I am going to CASE your card for her daughter and family! And do another one for her sister and family.
Thank you for sharing it and it and your ideas…..I am excited about doing my version of your beautiful card!

  3. I love this… you’ve done a beautiful job! Could you please tell me how you stamped the tree before you cut it out. What colirs did you use and did you use the glossy paper you were talking about?
