Lily Impressions Kimono Card
I created these adorable Kimono Cards for my team’s amazing January Sales. I plan on making quite a few more for thank you cards as well. I love how they came out especially using the Lily Impressions Designer Series Paper, which is one of the FREE products available until March 31, 2020, when you place a $50.00 order, before tax and shipping.
Peaceful Poppies Designer Series Paper
I also created a Kimono using the Peaceful Poppies Designer Series Paper, which pattern do you like the best?
I must give credit to Michelle Wedemeyer for her instructions, however, I don’t think her blog is available anymore, so I took some pictures of how I created this project for you. If you would like to see a video tutorial, please leave me a comment and I will create one, but I think Michelle’s video is pretty good. 🙂
I started with an 8-1/2″ X 5-1/2″ piece of DSP, and scored it at 2-1/4″ and 6-3/8″. Your card will end up in a gatefold.
Place the DSP on your trimmer up to the 2″ mark, find the 3/4″ mark on your trimmer and cut. You can also use a pencil and mark at 3″ in and down 2″ from the top, then use your paper snips to make the slit.
Fold in from the 3/4″ cut down as shown in the photo above, and use your Bone Folder to create a nice crease.
Now open your card and fold “in” the pieces we just creased. Your card will look like the photo above.
This is how it looks from the back once your folds are complete (photo above).
Now that Kimono is folded into shape, let’s create a collar. Fold at about 1/4″ at the top to the 2″ mark, as shown in the photo below.
Do the same thing on the other side of the kimono.
Now let’s create the belt (belly band).
I cut a 1″ X 6-1/2″ piece of coordinating DSP, and folded it around the kimono, not to tight though, you want to ensure it can slide up and down so you can open inside to reveal your message.
For the inside message, cut a 2-1/4″ X 3-1/4″ piece of Whisper White Cardstock and adhere to the inside of the kimono as shown in the photo below.
Now your Kimono Card is complete. Fun card, right?
Thank you for visiting with me today, I hope I have inspired you to go create something beautiful and send it on its way.
