Blended & Textured Projects
I played with my Blending Brushes a bit more this week, in addition, I used an old-school technique called sanding, which gave my projects some fun and unique texture.
I used to use glycerin when I use to sponge backgrounds but I no longer need to thanks to our amazing new Blending Brushes!
3D Embossing Folder
I started with a Thick Basic White piece of cardstock cut at 8-1/2″ x 5-1/2″, scored at 4-1/4″. I cut another piece of Thick Basic White cardstock at 5-1/2″ x 4-1/4″ and using my Blending Brushes added Gorgeous Grape Classic Ink on the top, then blended Melon Mambo on the bottom half.
I ran my cardstock through the Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine using the Lace 3D Embossing Folder. Next, I had purchased a nail buffer from Sally’s Beauty Supply here in Georgia and gently ran it over the embossed image on my cardstock. This removed the top layer of color from the sponging and left behind my original Thick Basic White cardstock showing through.
I adhered the panel to my card base using Multipurpose Liquid Glue. I used the Word Wishes Dies to cut out the “happy” sentiment using the Black Glitter Paper which carried over from the Holiday Catalog. I adhered the sentiment to a scrap piece of Basic White cardstock, then used my Paper Snips to trim around it. I added the sentiment with more Multipurpose Liquid Glue. I stamped the birthday sentiment from the coordinating A Wish For Everything Stamp Set on a scrap piece of Basic White Cardstock with my Tuxedo Black Memento Ink and trimmed it square with my Paper Snips. I added the birthday sentiment with Mini Stampin’ Dimensionals. I sprinkled some Artistry Blooms Adhesive Backed Sequins to the card front and called this project done.
Fabulous Floral Dies
I used the same measurements on this project as the first one. I used Daffodil Delight, Granny Apple Green, and Coastal Cabana Classic Inks to color my Thick Basic White cardstock with my Blending Brushes. Once blended I used the Dainty Diamonds 3D Embossing Folder over the blended piece using my Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine, then again used the nail buffer to remove some of the colors.
I cut 2 pieces of 2-1/2″ x 4-1/4″ Basic White cardstock, and ran them both through the Fabulous Floral Dies. I completely forgot to add some Adhesive Sheets to the back of one, this would have made adhered two pieces together so much easier. 🙂 Using my Multipurpose Liquid Glue I added the die-cut piece to my card front in the photo above.
I used a piece 4″ x 3″ piece of Basic White Cardstock to cut out the letters that spelled THANKS from the Playful Alphabet Dies, however this time I DID add Adhesive Sheet to one side of the Basic White cardstock BEFORE I ran the letters twice through the Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine.
I used a piece of Black Glitter Paper to cut the top layer of the sentiment, again using my Adhesive Sheets before I cut the letters out. I added the two Basic White Cardstock layers together, then added the Black Glitter cut letters over top for a total of 3 layers. I added the sentiment letters over the Fabulous Florals die-cut piece with some Multipurpose Liquid Glue. I sprinkled some Opal Rounds on the front and called this project done!
