Sitting Here with Sympathy

A sweet young woman and friend at our church lost her grandmother (Nanny) this past week, and after hearing some of the sweet stories about her sweet Nanny, I decided this would be a perfect sympathy card.  Nanny loved sitting on her porch swing, drinking a Coke, eating Lays Potato Chips and watching her kids run around and play.  Isn’t this the sweetest memory?

I wanted to capture her sweet memory using the Sitting Here Stamp Set, I really like how the card turned out.

 With Love and Sympathy

This seems like a simple card, but it did take a few steps to create, let me share them with you.  First I stamped the swing image from the Sitting Here Stamp Set on our Stampin’ Up Watercolor Paper using Jet Black Stazon Ink.  I used my Stamparatus because the Watercolor Paper has lots of texture (which makes it perfect for water coloring) and I knew I was going to need to stamp several times to get the image just right, and it worked beautifully.

Next, I took another piece of Watercolor Paper and stamped the image again on a smaller piece of Watercolor Paper because I wanted to cut out the image for added dimension on my card.   I used my Crumb Cake Classic Ink pad and Aqua Painter to color in my swing.

Next, I stamped all three pillows in the set on Shimmery White Cardstock using Tuxedo Black Memento Ink, as I wanted a smooth pillow.  I used Coastal Cabana, and Grapefruit Grove Classic Ink pads to color in the pillows.

Don’t forget the inside

Once I had all my pieces colored in, I proceeded to fussy cut each of them using my Paper Snips.  I love, love, love how sharp and easy it is to snip around even the thicker Watercolor Paper without a problem for a smooth even finish.

Lastly, If you follow me at all you know I like to finish the inside and envelopes to coordinate with my projects, this card was no different.  Here you can see I brought some of the Share What You Love Specialty Designer Series Paper on the inside and also some of the Braided Linen Trim.
