Rooted In Nature – Sympathy Card

I received a request from a dear customer for some sympathy cards, I went through my stamps and decided on the Rooted In Nature Stamp Set for this particular card.  I wanted the look and feel of a masculine card, although, this could be used for any gender….. 🙂

I heat embossed the sentiment from the Better Together Stamp Set with Versamark, White Stampin’ Emboss Powder and my Heat Tool.

I have card measurements below this post for you.

Another idea I had was to use some Glossy Cardstock (which is retiring at the end of May, so order before its gone!),  since it has been a while since I used it, and I love how my background turned out.  I used Mango Melody, Poppy Parade, and Gorgeous Grape Classic Inks and my Sponge Daubers to create the background on this project.

Next, I stamped the tree Image from the Rooted In Nature Stamp Set using my favorite took, the Stamparatus!  I did ink it up a couple of time with Jet Black Stazon Ink to ensure a crisp image.  No oopsies here!

Here is a close-up of the project, do you notice those cute little white sprinkles? First I created a mask of the tree image to protect it from the white splatter.  Next,  I created those white speckles using Whisper White Craft Ink Refill, some water, a small paint brush, and a sheet of clear plastic (the piece of clear plastic used to protect my new photopolymer stamps).  I placed a drop of the refill onto the plastic sheet, then a couple of drops of regular tap water, I used my small paintbrush to mix them together, loaded up my brush, then tapped the brush on my finger, and walla, you have speckles.

If you follow me, you know I love to continue the theme on the inside of the card to give it a finished look.  I also stamped the envelope too!  I used a piece of the sponged background by adding it to the inside of the card and stamped the pretty leaf in Jet Black Stazon Ink.
