Peaceful Place

I was looking through my Stampin’ Up! catalog today, and the Peaceful Place stamp set caught my eye.  I knew I’ve had this stamp set for a while, and had yet to ink it up, so today was the day.

Project Details will be listed at the bottom of this post.

I debated as to whether I wanted to use my Stampin’ Blends, Markers, Ink Pads, or Watercolor Pencils, the Watercolor Pencils won.  I pulled out my pack of New Fluid 100 Watercolor Paper, this new watercolor paper is so super soft, and smooth, I love it.

I stamped the image from the Peaceful Place stamp set on the Fluid 100 Watercolor Paper using my Stamparatus, and Jet Black Stazon Ink.  This was a larger stamp I knew I would probably have to stamp it a couple of times to get the full image on my paper, and I was right.

I used both the Watercolor Pencils, and Watercolor Pencils Assortment 2 on my image.  These two projects (you know as long as I’m making one, may as well make a second one for later), literally took me 15 minutes!  I used the lines already on the stamped image to add each color, then used my Aqua Painter to spread the color throughout.  My daughter was talking to me while I was coloring and she couldn’t believe how quickly I got done.  She said she was going home and pulling out her much-neglected pencils too.

I added some Basic Black Cardstock underneath my focal image, then mounted it on a piece of Old Olive Cardstock.  I popped one of my focal images with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the other one was glued directly to my Old Olive Cardstock base with only my Snail Adhesive.  Did you notice it?  Which is your favorite?

I felt the Old Olive Cardstock base needed a little something, I wasn’t sure if it was ribbon, so I tried a couple, nope, not ribbon.  Then I decided to use the leaf image in the Peaceful Place stamp set, with some Old Olive Classic Ink all around the outer perimeter of my card front.

Of course, I added a little something to the inside, the cute little squirrel image in the stamp set was perfect.

The final touch was to add some Clear Wink of Stella to the water, I wanted the image of glistening water.

Absolutely beautiful but I am quite a way away from being able to achieve such colouring. I am hopeless at colouring but I will achieve this one day. This email is in my “stunning cards to make” file on my emails.

    • Thank you, Mary-Ann, but let me tell you, I am NOT a great colorer, the Watercolor pencils, combined with the Aqua Painter make it so easy!

  2. What a beautiful card Gloria!
