CASEing the Catalog
When I saw this card project on page 95 of the NEW 2020-2021 Stampin’ Up Annual Catalog using the NEW Whale of a Time Suite, I knew I was going to create it. I did change it up just a tad, but the overall idea is the same.
I started my project with a 4-1/4″ X 11″, scored at 5-1/2″ piece of Pool Party Cardstock. I cut a separate panel from the Pool Party Cardstock at 4-1/4″ X 5-1/2″. Using the Layering Circles Dies (the 3rd from the largest circle), and the 4-1/4″ X 5-1/2″ piece of Pool Party Cardstock, I centered the circle die closer to the top and ran it through my die-cut machine. Next, I ran the same layer through the gorgeous Seabed 3D Embossing Folder. I trimmed down the cardstock to 4″ X 5-1/4″. I like to leave my soon to be embossed piece of cardstock just a tad bit bigger because I know they will shrink a little when I run them through my 3D Embossing Folders.
I cut a 3″ X 3″ piece of Window Sheet and added it with some Tear N Tape to the back of the cutout circle. I pulled out my Foam Adhesive Strips and ran my embossing buddy along one side of the Foam Adhesive Strip to ensure none of the Whale of a Time Sequins would get stuck to it. This was I didn’t have to worry about clouding up my Window Sheet. I added the beautiful Whale of A Time Sequins to the inside of my Foam Adhesive Strip, then cut a piece of the Whale of a Time DSP with the 2nd to the largest circle from the Layering Circle Dies and adhered it over the Foam Adhesive Strips. I added more of the Foam Adhesive Strips to the back of the Pool Party layer and then added that panel to my Pool Party card base.
I felt like the beautiful embossing from the Seabed 3D Embossing Folder was not really showing its true beauty, so I took my Sponge Dauber and Pool Party Classic Ink and very light sponge over some of the raised area on the embossed card layer.
I cut a 3/4″ X 2-1/2″ piece of Whisper White Cardstock and used the NEW Lovely Labels Pick A Punch to cut my sentiment layer, and punched it only on the right side. I stamped the sentiment from the Whale Done Stamp Set with some Pacific Point Classic Ink. I trimmed down my piece on the left side to 2-1/4″ long using my Paper Snips. I punched out one of the cute whales from the Whale of a Time 6″ X 6″ Designer Series Paper using the Whale Builder Punch, and fussy cut one of the turtles from the same Whale of a time DSP using my Paper Snips. I added some Mini Stampin’ Dimensionals to the back of both of my little critters. I added my sentiment with some NEW Stampin’ Seal+ Adhesive, then added my whale and turtle. I sprinkled a few more Whale of a Time Sequins with my Multipurpose Liquid Glue around the sentiment and my card base. Finally, I added some Clear Wink of Stella to my critters. The front was done!
You know I love to bring some of the outside features of my project to the inside, and this project was no different. I cut a piece of 4″ X 5-1/4″ piece of Whisper White Cardstock and added some of the beautiful and oh so soft, 3/8″ Sheer Pool Party Ribbon, and tied a small knot. I stamped those cute little fishes 3 times while “not” inking up my stamped again, so it gave me 1st, 2nd and 3rd generation stamping. I added this panel to the inside of my card project using the Stampin’ Seal+ Adhesive.
