Faux Patina Vintage Card

Faux Patina

I’ve been wanting to create a card using the faux patina technique, so today was the day. The process is pretty easy, dry embossing, sponging, and then gold embossing powder.

Painted Poppies

I used the new Ornate Floral 3D Embossing Folder, which I first sponge with some Crumb Cake Classic Ink, then ran through my die-cutting machine on a 4″ X 5-1/4″ piece of Very Vanilla Cardstock.  I sponged my first layer of ink using the Mossy Meadow Inkpad with my Sponge Dauber.  The second layer was some Seaside Spray Classic Ink, also using my Sponge Dauber.  The third layer I sponged on was with Early Espresso Classic Ink.

Next, I used my Embossing Buddy over the entire piece (just FYI, the Embossing Buddy is sadly retiring) to ensure no static is on my project, then I used my Versamark Ink Pad and light tapped it on my Very Vanilla Cardstock in a few place (not the whole piece), sprinkled on some Gold Embossing Powder, and heat set it with my Heat Tool.

I wrapped some 1/4″ Seaside Spray Metallic Ribbon (yes it carried over from the 2019 Holiday Catalog, yippee!) around the center of my Very Vanilla Cardstock layer then adhered the panel to my Seaside Spray Cardstock which is cut at 8-1/2″ X 5-1/2″ and scored at 4-1/4″.

I stamped the single flower from the Painted Poppies Stamp Set using Seaside Spray and Mossy Meadow Ink pads on a 1-3/4″ X 3-1/4″ piece of Very Vanilla Cardstock, then mounted it on a layer of Seaside Spray Cardstock cut to 2″ X 3-1/2″.  I added some Stampin’ Dimensionals to the stamped floral layer to my card base.

I stamped the Hello sentiment, from the Honee Bee Stamp Set on a scrap piece of Very Vanilla Cardstock, then I punched with my Classic Label Punch.  I trimmed the sentiment and punched a small hole at the top and ran some Linen Thread through it and tied it over my Seaside Spray Ribbon.

Lastly, I sprinkled a couple of 2019-2021 In-Color Faceted Gems. I called this project done.
