By The Dock
So I’ve had the By The Dock Stamp Set since the Mini Catalog was released back in January 2020, and I am just now getting around to playing with it. I say playing because I truly had a fun time playing with all the colors in this project.
I started with a piece of Thick Whisper White Cardstock cut at 8-1/2″ X 5-1/2″, scored at 4-1/4″. I cut another sheet of regular Whisper White Cardstock cut at 5-1/2″ X 4-1/4″. I used the By The Dock Stamp Set to stamp my images on the 5-1/8″ X 4-1/8″ piece of Whisper White cardstock with some Tuxedo Black Memento Ink. I stamped a second boat on a scrap piece of Whisper White Cardstock and used the coordinating Dockside Dies to cut out the boat. I extended the dock and grass line a bit by using my Black Stampin’ Write Marker (the fine point side) for the dock and inked up the grass image twice to extend the grass line.
The grass was colored in using the Old Olive, Mossy Meadow, Just Jade, and Cinnamon Cider Dark/Light Blends Combos.
It’s all in the details
For the dock and boat, I used Dark Crumb Cake Stampin’ Blend, Soft Suede, Cinnamon Cider Dark/Light Stampin’ Blends, and an Early Espresso Watercolor Pencil. I added a 1″ circle I had punched out from a post-it-note pad. I used my Stamparatus to stamp all my images and especially the greeting before I began coloring my project. Perfect!
The water was colored with the Seaside Spray Dark/Light Combo Blends about 2/3 of the way from the grass line, then I used my Sponge Dauber inked up with some Seaside Spray Classic Ink to color in from where I left off with the Stampin’ Blends. I used a very light touch of some Pumpkin Pie Classic Ink for part of my skyline. above the Pumpkin Pie Ink, I added some Daffodil Delight Classic Ink with my Sponge Dauber too. And my last layer above the Daffodil Delight Ink, I added more Seaside Spray Classic Ink with a “very light” touch. I ensured I did not cover my little seagulls with any ink. I removed the post-it-note pad circle and added some Daffodil Delight Ink over the circle to create a lightish yellow sun. I used my Clear Wink of Stella on a few places of the water near the boat, and on the seagulls. I added the boat onto my card with some Mini Glue Dots, to give my card a wee bit of dimension. I mounted the 5-1/8″ X 4-1/8″ stamped and colored image piece onto a 5-1/2″ X 4-1/4″ piece of Basic Black Cardstock with my favorite NEW Adhesive, Stampin’ Seal+, then added it to my Thick Whisper White Cardstock card base.
Don’t forget the inside
I scattered a few seagulls on the inside of my card and colored them in with a very light touch of the Light Seaside Spray Stampin’ Blend and some more Clear Wink of Stella.
