Whale of a Time
I don’t know if this type of fold has a name, so I am going to call it a “four corner designer series paper fold. If you know the name, please share it with me, I would love to know.
I made a couple of these cards, it was so much fun creating them, and I love how it turned out, hope you do too.
I started my project with an 8-1/2″ X 5-1/2″, scored at 4-1/4″ piece of Calypso Coral Cardstock. I cut a second layer of Blackberry Bliss Cardstock at 4″ X 4-1/4″. I used the Whale of a Time 6″ X 6″ Designer Series Paper into four (4) squares cut at 2-1/2″ X 1-7/8″.
The Template
I first created a template before I began folding over my Whale of a Time DSP piece. I cut a 2-1/2″ X 1-7/8″ piece of Whisper White Cardstock and measured on the bottom left corner in at 1/2″ and placed a tiny pencil mark. Then on the right side from the top to the bottom, I measured down to 1-1/8″ and placed another little pencil mark. I used my ruler to connect both lines, then used my Paper Snips to cut across as shown in the photo below.
I used this as my template to score where I wanted my Whale of a Time Designer Series Paper Scored. I used my Bone Folder to mark across the DSP which made it super easy to fold back perfectly.
Whale Done
I added my Whale of a Time DSP piece as shown in the photo above to my 4″ X 4-1/2″ layer of Blackberry Bliss Cardstock. Once I had the DSP pieces secured with my NEW Stampin’ Seal+ Adhesive, I added a Stampin’ Dimensional to the folded flap piece of DSP to add some dimension.
I wrapped a piece of the 3/8″ Pool Party Sheer Ribbon around the center of my card layer and tied a simple know. I adhered the Blackberry Bliss layer over top of my Calypso Coral card base using my Stampin’ Seal+ Adhesive.
I stamped my sentiment from the Whale Done Stamp Set on a scrap piece of Whisper White Cardstock with my Calypso Coral Classic Ink and then used the second from the smallest square Stitched Shapes Die to cut it out. I adhered it to the center of my card using Stampin’ Dimensionals.
I stamped the whale image on a 2″ X 2-1/2″ piece of Whisper White Cardstock using some Pacific Point and Just Jade Classic Ink, creating a slight Ombre effect. I punched the whale using the coordinating Whale Builder Punch and added it to my card front with a bit of Stampin’ Seal+ and some Stampin’ Dimensionals on the tail. I used my Black Stampin’ Write Marker to the eye of the whale to make it pop a bit. I sprinkled a few of the Whale of a Time Sequins with some Multipurpose Liquid Glue on the front of my card.
To finish off the inside of my project, I added a piece of 4″X 5-1/4″ piece of Whisper White Cardstock and stamped the cut fishes with Just Jade Classic Ink and some bubbles with some Pacific Point Classic Ink.

Hi, Gloria. I’ve just tested your card design. I like it very much and will test it also with other DSP. It’s really an easy but nice card to create. Thanks for sharing with us. Couleur Fleur
