Faux Tile Technique

Have you ever tried the faux tile technique?  I hadn’t until today.  It was super fun and super easy to create.  If you were to see this photo in person, you would literally think it looks just like ceramic tiles.

I started with a piece of 8-1/2/” X 5-1/5″, scored at 4-1/4″ piece of Thick Whisper White Cardstock.  Next, was a piece of Magenta Madness Cardstock cut at 4-1/4″ X 5-1/2″.    Another piece of regular Whisper White Cardstock cut at 4-1/8″ X 5-3/8″.  I scored 1″ from the bottom horizontally with my Simply Scored Scoring Tool.  Then I angled my card on the 6″ mark of my Simply Scoring took, and measured out every 3/4″ on the right and left of my Whisper White Cardstock.

I stamped my bird image from the Free As A Bird Stamp Set using some Smoky Slate Classic Ink right over the Whisper White scored cardstock layer.  I colored in the images with some Dark/Light Crumb Cake, Dark/Light Balmy Blue, Dark/Light Daffodil Delight, Dark/Light Granny Apple Green, and Dark/Light Magenta Madness Stampin’ Blends.

I stamped the sentiment from the A Grand Kid Stamp Set on the bottom right of my project using Soft Suede Classic Ink. I sponged only the scored portion of my card with some Balmy Blue Classic Ink and a Stampin’ Sponge.

I covered the entire upper portion of the scored area with some Versamark Ink and sprinkled some Clear Embossing Powder, then heat set it with my Heat Tool.  I did this three (3) times.

I cut and tied a piece of Daffodil Delight Ruched Ribbon across the bottom and added a bow.  I added the embossed piece of Whisper White Cardstock over the Magenta Madness Cardstock, then added the Magenta Madness piece to the front of my Whisper White Cardstock.  I called this project done!
