Snailed It
Can you stand the cuteness of these adorable snails? I just love them. I have had a criss-cross card on my mind for a while now, so I decided today was the day to create one.
I used the Snailed It Stamp Set, Snail Dies, Snail Mail DSP, Resin Heart Embellishments, (so basically the Suite, lol), and the Itty Bitty Birthdays Stamp Set.
I have photos of how this project came together, which I hope clearly explains how to pull yours together, but if it doesn’t leave me a message with questions or if you think a video would be easier to follow along.
Let’s Get Started
You will need a full sheet of Basic White Cardstocks, cut in half so you have two pieces of 8-1/2″ x 5-1/2″, scored at 4-1/4″.
Real Red Cardstock (or the color of your choice), cut at 4″ x 5-1/4″, and cut diagonally as shown in the photo above.
2 pieces of the same Snail Mail Designer Series Paper, cut at 3-3/4″ x 5″, and also cut diagonally. The reason you need two is that when you flip the DSP to fit both left and right flaps, you can’t bet a match.
TIP: you can use the cardstock only piece and simply stamp some images on the cardstock instead of using DSP.
Snail Mail Designer Series Paper
Adhere the cut Snail Mail Designer Series Paper over the cut Real Red Cardstock pieces using your Seal+ adhesive.
You will cut each of the Basic White cardstock pieces angeled on one side, then adhere them together in the center panel as shown in the photo above.
Next, add the Real Red and Snail Mail DSP panel to each side of the card.
Add Liquid Multipurpose Glue or Tear N Tape to the bottom “only” of the panel on the right, and flip to the left to adhere it to your card base.
Now add more Multipurpose Liquid Glue or Tear N Tape to the bottom left, and about halfway up from the bottom, and fold over to the right, and this creates your criss-cross pocket.
Snail Dies
I used the coordinating Snail Dies to our cut my pieces shown in the photo above. The little snail was colored in using Petal Pink, Bermuda Bay, and Gray Granite Stampin’ Blends. The 2″ x 2-1/8″ Basic White piece was cut using my Stampin’ Trimmer and I used the Blending Brushes and some Real Red Classic Ink to give it some color before I adhered my snail to it.
The inside pocket of the cards is cut at 4″ x 5″, rounded with my Detailed Trio Punch on the top corners, and I also adhered a 3/4″ x 4″ piece of coordinating Snail Mail DSP to the bottom.
I couldn’t help myself, I added two googly eyes to one of my snails. Eeek
I used my Layering Circles Dies and both Real Red and Bermuda Bay cardstocks to cut out the scalloped circle, and the non-scalloped die to cut out the Basic White circle. I stamped the hello from the Snailed It Stamp Set with my Tuxedo Black Memento Ink on one, and a sentiment from the Itty Bitty Birthday on the other project.
I stamped the mushroom from the Snailed It Stamp Set with my Tuxedo Black Memento Ink on a scrap piece of Basic White cardstock and colored it in using my Real Red, Pool Party, and Crumb Cake Stampin’ Blends.
I didn’t go back and take another photo, but I did “add” some of the Resin Hearts to my card front. I realized after I had taken all my photos I forgot to add these cuties to my project.
